Advanced Zirconia - Valve Trim Components

Where severe conditions exist, valve components made from Morgan Technical Ceramics Melbourne (MTC) Mg-PSZ provide longer life and more consistent performance than conventional materials.

MTC Melbourne Mg-PSZ valve trim:

  • Enhances the performance of ball valves, rotary valves, needle valves, butterfly valves, gates etc. in the toughest most severe environments.
  • Works in conditions where other materials simply cannot.
  • Saves substantially on valve repair and downtime.
  • Is custom manufactured to your specifications.
  • Is USDA approved for food contact.

Benefits of MTC’s Mg-PSZ

Valve components made from MTC’s Mg-PSZ consistently outperform steels, alloys, carbides, cobalt and nickel alloys and other ceramics, in a wide range of severe service conditions. Boiler feed, abrasive slurries, fly ash, corrosive chemicals, and sand abrasion are only a few of the many conditions where MTC’s Mg-PSZ has solved serious problems, while also providing significant cost savings from reduced maintenance, less frequent valve repairs, less downtime and improved performance over the life of the valve.

Severe Wear Zirconia Valve ComponentsNo More Compromises

Valve components fail due to inherent weaknesses in the materials from which they are made. It is the design engineer’s job to weigh the trade-offs and come up with the best valve for the conditions. That usually means sacrificing in some areas to achieve improvement in others. The result is a compromise between valve performance and valve life.

Now you may never have to compromise again. The reason is MTC’s Mg-PSZ, the patented, transformation-toughened, partially-stabilized zirconia (PSZ) ceramic. It is completely different from anything you’ve tried.

MTC’s Mg-PSZ is a strong, tough, resilient ceramic that can stand up to the toughest of conditions. It is impact resistant - no need to handle it with kid gloves. It is extremely corrosion-resistant… in fact, it is virtually inert to most acids, bases and most other corrosives. It is wear resistant - abrasive slurries have little effect on its rock-hard surfaces. It is highly resistant to cavitation, and high operating temperatures are not a problem. After all, the melting point of Mg-PSZ is almost 2800°C!

Now you can have valves that will perform in virtually any condition with no more compromises. Throttling in abrasive slurries. High temperature corrosives. Cavitation. MTC’s Mg-PSZ will stand up to the most severe conditions you can imagine and provide long life and outstanding performance.

Morgan Technical Ceramics Delivers

MTC's Mg-PSZ valve components are custom-manufactured to your specifications. MTC's ability to produce large and complex components is unequalled. We will provide engineering assistance to help you develop cost effective components.

If you are having problems with your valve trim or if you have a unique application or need custom components, consult your nearest MTC sales office.
