Battery tooling

Morgan’s NilcraTM Zirconia offers a highly cost effective alternative to conventional materials such as Stellite in the production of Alkaline and Carbon Zinc Batteries.

Unlike many ceramic materials, NilcraTM Zirconia has high strength and toughness and is ideal for applications where there is high impact. The material has exceptional wear resistance and abrasive materials have minimal effect on its surface. It has a low coefficient of friction, is resistant to chemical attack from most acidic or caustic solutions and mixes.

Most importantly the material produces highly consistent results be cause of its high reliability (Weibull Modulus > 30)

In Carbon Zinc dry cell battery production, NilcraTM Zirconia has become the material of choice in conveying the highly abrasive and corrosive battery mix from the mixers to the battery. Mixer Units, Extruders, Liners, Nozzles, Dies and Punches are all produced from NilcraTM Zirconia and extend component life over conventional materials such as Stellite and hardened alloys.
